Are we the right practice for you? We work in a cozy one-room studio in a vintage 1914 flatiron building and we only book one special client at a time. We don't charge spa prices and we don't have spa attitude. We also don't have showers, hot tubs, saunas, hair and nail service, or fluffy robes. If you are looking for a day spa experience we encourage you to pass us by and choose a spa instead. If you're looking for truly customized holistic skin therapy and top-notch massage by highly-trained, enthusiastic, and down-to-earth therapists who will remember your name and who will listen when you tell us what your goals and needs are, we think you'll love us to pieces.

Apotheca massage- and skincare therapists work in a friendly and non-competitive atmosphere, so please feel free to go ahead and book an appointment with any of us to experience a full range of approaches and treatment styles.

Please note: If you have a gender preference for your massage therapist, please be mindful when making an online booking. The online system will ask you to choose not only a session type and date, but also a practitioner from a list of four. Choose any of us if gender is not a consideration for you. Please choose only Kim or Kirsten if you prefer a female massage therapist. Thank you.

Where we are:

The Hobart Building, 582 Market Street, Suite 215. We are located directly above Montgomery BART in an elevator-accessible downtown studio housed in a neat old historic flatiron building that was the tallest in the City when it went up in 1914. We don't offer an impersonal spa atmosphere, but rather a friendly little oasis in the midst of the bustling downtown. Our little one-room studio is perfect for lunchtime and after-work appointments, or when you need a restorative mid-day getaway. It is a peaceful space, cleanly designed and simply decorated to put your mind and spirit at ease. Relax on a custom, heated oversize massage table and drift off cocooned in a nest of soft jersey sheets, with healing aromatherapy, flickering candles, a trickling fountain, and relaxing music to help you ease into a meditative frame of mind.

Your first appointment:

We are always professional, but we're not formal here. We don't have a receptionist, so when you arrive it will be just you and your massage therapist.

For your first session, we will ask you to fill out a short new client intake form which covers your medical history, your experience with skincare, massage and bodywork, and your expectations for your session. Your check-in intake time will not be counted toward your session time, so please allow an additional 15 minutes to your session time to ensure that you won't run late to anything else you have planned for the day. We like to take this time to get to know you and understand your needs and expectations for your session, but if you are in a hurry and you don't have time to check in, please let us know before your session so we can plan accordingly and give you only a brief run-down before your session starts. There is no need to arrive early for your session, just arrive on time and plan to stay an additional 15 minutes or so past your session time.

Since we work in just one room, after your check-in time we will leave the office and go down the hall to wash our hands while you disrobe for your session.

Parking and transportation:

We love the bus! No parking, no stress. Public transportation is strongly encouraged, as this location is easily accessible from BART, Muni and any of the bus lines that run down Market Street. If you do choose to drive, the nearest and least expensive parking garage in the neighborhood is here.
